Kaidan laughed and visibly relaxed, smiling brightly. "Actually.. yeah" he said, bowing his head. "She stopped me from seeing you for years and years. I kept track through your Gran, but that's all I could do" he said, flicking the ash into a quick fix tinfoil ashtray. "I sent you letters and pressies, tried to keep up with what you were doing as you grew up" he said with that gentle smile, dipping his head. His hand came to rest around the coffee. "It was hard, but your Gran always had news to tell me about you. About... your school work or... what new things you were learning to do, what you were good at what you were interested from year to year" he smiled fondly. He placed the cigarette between his lips and lifted the case up to rest in his lap, opening it up and taking out a small stack of papers, before placing them on the table.
"Um yeah, about that" he laughed softly. "I was young, I was a bit reckless" he said, looking back at the table. "Taught me a very valuable lesson though..." he added, taking another drag on the cigarette before making eye contact. "I still can't believe it's really you" he said, smiling again. "Look, I brought these to show you. Just some old pictures our Gran sent me over the years" he said, sliding them over to her.
