Dan was silent through the admonishment, mostly because he knew Kevin was right; it'd been highly unprofessional of him. Even though he knew it hadn't been his department to let Kevin know, he kind of figured that homicide wouldn't exactly circulate a memo, at least not one that would reach Sterling's office, and he'd turned a blind eye to that.
Which reminded him. "I got you that list," he added quickly, his brain sluggish with thoughts he'd rather not be thinking, sights he'd rather not have seen in the first place. "The one from Rondeaux's computer. And don't blame us for the blackout; that's your own division. Apparently, some of the names are considered classified, or protected or whatever. It went through the FBI first and filtered down to us with about half of the names removed."
Taken a bit surprised by Sterling's statement, all Dan could do for a moment was nod. "Yeah, of course." It stung a bit, thinking that Kevin believed him so incapable of doing his job, so unprofessional, that he required such assurances. This isn't fucking high school, he reminded himself, and if you want to prove trust worthy, do just that: prove it.
