chaser_heidi
Who: Heidi Macavoy and Cedric Diggory
What: Getting some air...and sneaking a drink!
When: Wednesday. 5pm
Where: Down by the lake.
Rating: SFW, for now! Heidi can get into trouble so...who knows if it will stay that way?!

The practice had been a good one; Hufflepuff's team was really coming together. Was it too much to hope that the team would really gel for her last year and win the cup? That would be a dream come true...

Whose dream though?

That made Heidi pull out her flask and take a quick sip. Tucking it back away, she sighed. She had always wanted to win the cup. However, Heidi couldn't help but think about how much her parents had been talking about it and pressuring her without ever directly saying that she needed to win; her parents were masters of passive aggressiveness.

The sun was getting low in the sky and it was starting to get cool. It didn't bother Heidi; she loved the fall. It was soothing and calming and made her quite happy. It was helping to distract her...as was the firewhiskey in her flask.

Heidi pulled her hoody around her tightly and zipped it up. She had changed after practice into her non-uniform-uniform; trainers, tight, worn jeans, a Beatles t-shirt and her favorite hooded sweatshirt with the logo of the Holyhead Harpies covering the back.

Seeing the giant squid frolicking in the lake. Moving down to the shore line, Heidi stood at watched it as she tried to keep her mind on good thoughts instead of the letter she had received from her parents earlier that was crumpled up in her pockets.

Sighing, she took another sip from her flask without looking around figuring there was no one around so close to dinner time.

babybella
Who: Bellatrix and Andromeda
What: Hanging out
When: Monday Evening
Where: Slytherin common room
Rating: SFW.

Bellatrix was bored. She supposed she could be doing her potions homework or maybe reading up for dark arts, but she just didn't feel like it this evening. Not that she ever particularly felt like opening a book willingly. So far this evening she had skipped dinner and stayed in the dorms, a long piece of blank parchment teasing her where her essay should have been written.

Being solitary was not Bella's strong point. When you were alone you had time to think and mostly her thinking had been about Severus, the one thing she definitely didn't want to be thinking about. With a growl she kicked the parchment off of her bed, her bottom lip jutting out in a pout before she swung herself off the bed and out of the dorm. The common room would provide a welcome distraction, whether it was with friends or enemies and almost as soon as she had entered it Bellatrix located Andromeda on a sofa with a book in her lap. She stalked over to her sister, flopping next to her and kicking the book off of Andie's lap to rest her feet over the other girl with a smirk. "I'm very bored" she drawled.

Who: Yolanda and Heidi
What: Who knows?
When: Sunday afternoon
Where: Quidditch Pitch
Rating: SFW.

School hadn't been back in session for very long, but Yolanda couldn't help but be bored. There hadn't been any good start of the term parties, and Quidditch practice hadn't really taken ahold of her life. So homework was all she had, and that wasn't exactly her favorite thing to do either. She wasn't a slouch academically, but if there was anything else to do, she would rather do that than write essays and practice spells.

So when Heidi had mentioned getting together, Yolanda had jumped on the chance. Dressing in a pair of jeans and a hoodie, she slipped out of the castle and down to the Quidditch pitch, a mug hidden in her hoodie pocket. She was sure they would have fun; Heidi was a party girl, and always knew how to have a good time, even if they were just hanging out under the bleachers.

Heidi was already there when she showed up. "Hey," Yolanda called, ducking under the bleachers and plopping down next to the other girl.

Who: Neville & Ginny.
What: Ginny decides she should probably try to strike up conversation with someone who isn't a student.
When: Breakfast on Sunday morning.
Where: Hogwarts [Great Hall; Teacher's Table].
Rating: SFW.

When she had been taking the year off to relax and clear her head, Ginny had developed a bad habit of sleeping in late. Her father was away, Fred and George were at school, and her mother just sat in her study and wrote all day. There had been no reason to get up before noon, and it was half of what had caused so much friction between Ginny and Aubrey during her time at home. Lazy as a lump on a log, her mother had taken to declaring her.

But Hogwarts was different. There was always something to do, always somebody ahead of you at the table to talk to, and no matter how busy your mom was, you still got a hot breakfast without fail. She wasn't really a fan of using house elves, it had always seemed lazy to her, but the Hogwarts elves were different. Or so she hoped. They seemed happy enough, and she doubted that the school would mistreat them.

With her plate piled high full of everything from scrambled eggs to three slices of toast, the redhead was busily chugging down a glass of pumpkin juice as she considered it. Professor Hufflepuff definitely wouldn't let the elves go mistreated, she was far too passionate about her subject. Speaking of Professor Hufflepuff however, there was another non-elfy rumor floating around that she was more interested in.

Turning to the person sitting next to her, Ginny raised an eyebrow. "It's true that there's a dragon in the forest this year, right?" she asked, realizing now that it was Neville Longbottom at her side. Herbology had never been her favorite, but he was definitely the least scary teacher in the whole school.. other than herself. She was glad she had lucked out with him. She had been having such an awkward time trying to fit in with the rest of the staff.

"Someone told me that kids are getting to visit it," she added, eyes a bit big. "Wild, huh?"

Who: Heidi & Ginny.
When: Wednesday evening.
Where: Hogwarts [Quidditch Pitch].
What: Ginny is fixing up the school brooms up to par, and Heidi comes to help out and catch up.
Rating: Currently SFW.

There was no variety of broom Ginny hated more than a school issued broom. After she had outgrown her childhood broom by her second year at Hogwarts, she had never owned a broom of her own again until Christmas in her fifth year. Those first four years of playing for the Gryffindor team and riding around on a variety of old Cleansweep models and Shooting Stars had been hell. When she had opened her own Nimbus on that Christmas morning, she had practically knocked her father out of his armchair when she jumped up to hug him.

Even her Nimbus was a thing of the past now though, she had donated it to her cause of fixing up Hogwarts broom collection almost as soon as she had arrived a few weeks ago. Her own current broom, a Firebolt brushed to perfection, was slung over her shoulder as she made her way down to the pitch with half of a sandwich still in her hand.

Over her other shoulder, the red-haired girl had hung a bag packed full of everything she would need to waste a few hours in the broom shed; a few broom-servicing kits and brushes, as well as a large container of handle polish. She remembered her own years of using terrible school brooms like it had been the week before, and she knew that kids stuck using Hogwarts brooms were always considered a bit of a joke. The brooms never really being properly cared for, outside of the groundskeeper occasionally remembering to remove the frost from them after the snow came, never helped. She had every intention to change that perception. If she had her way, with a little work, she would have each of the school brooms in tip-top shape for her next class and any extra help sessions she planned to set up.

Maybe, if she asked someone really brilliant to help her out, she could even come up with a way to convince the school to purchase a few new brooms to add into their collection. There was no way anyone could deny that some of the brooms in the shed were more than a couple of decades outdated. It was a necessary cost, in her eyes. But that would be something she would work on later.

For now, Ginny was content to work with what she had and fix them up as best she could. Heidi coming along to help out would make the work even faster, and Ginny was quite glad for that, but there was no sense in her trying to tell herself that she didn't feel just a tiny bit nervous about seeing the younger girl. They hadn't really spoken since her graduation, there were very few people she had kept in contact with after graduating in fact, and there were definitely some unresolved.. something going on there with them. They had goofed off a lot together, but Heidi had always been someone she was quite fond of.

She was a teacher now though and that was quite different than just being the older friend. Keeping her mind on the task at hand, and away from any girls or students of any kind, Ginny hummed to herself as she arrived at the pitch and popped the lock on the broom shed, letting herself inside. She dropped her bag and then her broom more carefully, still finishing up her sandwich as she flicked her wand to illuminate the shed and began to make inventory of all the brooms that needed the most attention.

thepotioneer
Who: Lily, Cedric, & Hermione.
When: Wednesday night.
Where: Hogwarts [Prefects' Bathroom; Fifth Floor].
What: The three friends hanging out in their 'top secret meeting spot' for the evening.
Rating: Presumably SFW!

She had been there so many times in the last three years, there was no way that Lily could forget how to get to the prefect only washroom. When she and Cedric had gotten their badges in fifth year, even before Hermione was named a prefect the year after, the three of them had just sort of started meeting there. It was quiet and peaceful on most days, and usually no one bothered them, and so it just sort of worked. Though they did visit the Hufflepuff common room, and Cedric did visit Gryffindor quite often as well, there was definitely those in both houses who always gave them strange looks.

Especially in the Gryffindor common room, some of the more arrogant students when surrounded by their friends often had something to say about the Hufflepuff Quidditch captain being in their midst. Lily had never really understood the whole macho Quidditch mentality, needing to start things with people just because of sports rivalries, but luckily Cedric didn't seem to get people's big deal anymore than she did. It was just another reason why they worked; despite people viewing him as a jock, he fit in with her and Hermione like just another pea in the pod. He got them, and they got him, but people were idiots and it was just easier to do most of their hanging out outside of their common rooms.

On this particular Wednesday, she had told both Ced and Hermione to meet her in the prefect bathroom two hours after dinner had ended. Adding the two hour grace period mostly because she knew that Hermione would already be working on getting ahead of her homework and would need at least an hour of review to keep herself stable. Once again, it was just how they worked. She knew things like that, and her friends never seemed to dislike the way she did.

Arriving on the fifth floor finally, the redhead moved beyond the statue of Boris the Bewildered and paused outside of the door for a moment as she wracked her brain for the new password. "Oh shoot," she murmured, chewing her lip. Was it green peas, or was that the Gryffindor password right now? Keeping all of the passwords straight always messed her up for the first week or so.

Looking behind her, she waited to see Cedric or Hermione appear in the corridor. She was a bit early, but what if she was locked out and they were both already inside? Surely they'd come looking for her. Wouldn't they? Maybe she could slip in behind someone if somebody else came along..

thehufflepuff
Who: Hogwarts Staff
When: Aug. 31 into Sept. 01
Where: Room of Requirement (Less need to decorate that way)
What: End of Summer Holiday party
Rating: TBD
Status: In Progress

Helga had ventured inside for just such an occasion. The teaching staff that did not live around the school year round had arrived back a week ago to prepare for the children's arrival on the morrow. The Room of Requirement was just how Helga had needed it to be. A wide room with lots of space with an open pillared balcony letting in the fresh air but keeping out the light drizzle.

The house elf kitchen staff was tripping over themselves to do all that was asked of them by Helga. She was the reason most of them were there. She had liberated them from abusive homes and it was with a spot of inventiveness she had accomplished it. Oh the charges for theft of another's property had never stuck and the Wizengamot always advised the previous owner to be more kind and if not, at least more intelligent. It also helped that Helga knew the name and face of every house elf on staff. It was a daunting task but one she felt neccisary. The house elves knew all the names of the other staff after all.

The food laid out was something to behold and if there was a favorite dish among the teaching staff they were all accounted for. Helga even dirtied her own hands with cooking and made her famous rhubarb crumble recipe. She had of course washed them before she dirtied them again though.

All in all the little party was going to be fun as they celibrated their last day of freedom. Helga had even broken out the hard cider and the mulled wine. Because truly what was a celebration without a spot of liquid joy.

Who: Open to all
When: Sept. 1, 1969
Where: Platform 9 3/4, Hogwarts Express
What: Heading to Hogwarts

It was windy on the platform as the steam of the Hogwarts Express engine seeped across the platform close to the front of the train. A misty rain had been coming down most of the day with not sign of letting up or of being more substantial than a drizzle.

Families were pouring through the barrier and onto the platform. Parents ushering children onto the train after heartfelt goodbyes or for some smiles hiding a relief to be rid of them from a nerve wracking summer holiday.
