"You mean unfortunately for you, you now have to deal with me in a really shitty universe," she corrected him with a crooked smirk, but it faded when he saw him give her the same look he always gave after they had reached the helicarrier after a mission. The question had her shrugging, because she had been out there long enough, but she didn't want to say that to him to worry him. Steve was a worrier, he got worked up over things that he had no control over and it was both the most endearing and most infuriating thing about him, to Natasha.
"I didn't show up at the door, if that's what you mean. It doesn't matter now though, I'm here, I'm fine." She gave him a knowing look, a silent effort to convince him to actually hear those words and let them sink in instead of fighting against them and insisting that she either talk about her experience or see a doctor. She was alright, and in the end that was all the mattered. The endgame was the most important part for Natasha, the world could fall apart but as long as they were alive, what the hell did they have to complain about?
"And," she continued before he could get himself worked up, her arms folding once more as she started to survey the boxes before them. "I've been assigned to your team. Found out that you're a captain no matter what life you live, so I insisted that you needed someone there to make sure you didn't end up killing yourself." She was only half joking. "So?" Her gaze moved to him expectantly, a flirtatious lilt in her voice and smile that she gave just because she knew it made Steve uncomfortable, and seeing Steve squirm was one of the small joys she had in life. "Are you going to train me?"
