Nothing that Malia was saying surprised him. If anybody knew pain, it was Isaac. If anybody knew about that all consuming anger that made everything go red before it went black, the kind that made you taste blood and made you want to take every once of hurt you've ever felt and inflict it on someone else, deserving or not, it was Isaac Lahey. He knew where her head was, and maybe that was the reason he was the only person who could pull her back from it.
Instead of doing what she said, Isaac took her hands in his own and stared down at them. He wouldn't be able to tie her up, they only had rope and Isaac knew Malia would be able to tear out of that with barely any effort. Perhaps someone else would have tried to ground her by telling her that she was strong enough to make it, and that her training and practice were tools for her to use in that moment, but Isaac wasn't someone else. He knew that wouldn't work. He knew that hearing how strong she was would only make all of this worse, strength was the reason she wanted to tear people apart in the first place. So, instead, he said something different. Perhaps it wouldn't work, but it was what worked for him, and that was all Isaac knew how to do.
He looked back up at her and held her eye, showing no fear when he saw the look she held there, a subtle sign that she was slipping away. "If you do that," he began slowly, "you're going to lose everything. You're going to lose me, you're going to lose Derek, you're going to lose Cora, everybody. Everybody that you've ever gotten close to is going to either be dead or never speak to you again, everything that happened with your mother and sister will start all over and this time you won't be able to hide in a different form, Malia. Everybody will know it was you." Perhaps it was cruel. In these situations, Isaac needed cruel. All he knew was cruel, because cruel worked for him.
"Malia," he said her name with urgency. "If you let go and if you let this take over, you are going to be completely and utterly alone, do you understand me? Don't do that. You know how to control it, we've been working hard. If you don't you're going to lose everything. Don't let this ruin you."
