Caitlin was making a bigger deal of this than Derek thought it was worth making, but then perhaps he was biased. Cora's naturally thin patience was worn out. The worst part was that he could hear Caitlin's heartbeat and she was telling the truth. She believed that she needed to tell her friends, who Derek immediately decided he hated in that moment, just for existing at all. Irrational, but there it was.
Cora admitted to lying and Derek's head dropped forward with a huff before he finally got to his feet and moved to walk behind his sister. There was no getting out of it without getting Cora into trouble and if anyone was getting tossed on their ass outside the camp for it, it was going to be him. Not her.
It took a few tries and, while he was struggling with the transition still — Why, though?? — Cora elaborated a little bit further. Not much, but enough.
Finally, fucking finally the transition went and he stood with it, towering behind his sister and putting a hand on her shoulder to keep her still. "Okay, all right, okay...Caitlin, just...don't freak out, okay? Please? She's my sister; she's just trying to protect me." His brow creased and he looked caught between a rock and a hard place because sharing what he was was quite literally the very last thing Derek wanted to do, but he supposed maybe it was still second to getting Cora into trouble or, worse, kicked out. "There's no dog, there's no breach, I just...can you...not say anything about this, please?" He paused and looked the woman in the eye. "Please?"
