Derek had the grace to look appropriately sheepish at that. He knew that most people were well-versed in that sort of technology back home and here, but it just hadn't ever really been his thing. "I like things simple," he replied with a shrug. "I don't ever use most of the functionality of a smartphone, so I didn't ever really see much of a point in having one. All it meant was a lot of crap I didn't need and a higher phone bill," he said.
"But...you know. I'm learning it. I just have a smartphone, but I think some people got tablets. I think whoever really started this camp or whatever must've just scavenged whatever data devices they could find and distributed them however when they needed to. I manage," he said. It wasn't preferable, but it was doable.
