The sun was bright, the air was warm, the Aesir were lounging around lazily and enjoying the glory days of summer. All of them? Not quite. There was one who'd slipped away quietly from the dozing gods and made his way towards the rainbow bridge.
It wasn't that Heimdall couldn't appreciate idleness but only on days like this could he afford not to play guardian and watchman for the other gods. Packing a few provisions into a bag, he slung it across his shoulder and set out to visit his second-favourite world - Midgard.
Half-way across the bridge he realised that he wasn't the only one on it. Well, anyone could do as they pleased. Nevertheless, there was a small frown marring his forehead as he continued his way because it wasn't exactly the sound of footsteps behind him.
Eventually he turned around and his eyes confirmed what his ears had suggested but which his brain had adamantly refused to acknowledge. It was Loki's... er, no. Better not call it that. So what, then? Oh, right. It was Odin's horse. Yes, that was better. Marginally. Not really. But still...
