He had no idea what she was thinking every time she looked at him like that. And no, he did not want to know either. He'd always try to maintain his distance, but today he'd been proverbially raped by a hundred different hands that yet another display of pleasantries didn't faze him.
"Thank you," Pride offered quietly, managing a small smile. Despite the way their usual interactions tended to go, he did not despise her, nor did he think himself above her. They talked from time to time, though it was usually when problems arose. He kept his guard up around her, but today, right now, he was a little lax.
He could tell that she went to quite a bit of effort to spruce the place up - probably did a whole lot of things just to irk him, but suspicions aside. He hated to ruin the occasion for her, but he really wasn't feeling anywhere near his best.
"I uhm... to be honest with you I'm not feeling very good right now," he confessed quietly. It was a difficult thing to say, because out of all of them, you'd expect Pride to be the one who could hold it together come hell or high water.
"I'm not sure I could do dinner, but. I'm happy to stay for the rest of the evening."
