Inari lifted one of the strands and turned it in his hand, deftly freeing one of the bright orange birds. "We all have wishes, don't we?" He glanced at her again and carefully, always unsure how to approach other deities, offered her the folded crane perched on his palm. "What is something you wish for, Lady?"
Her friendly smile was encouraging and she appeared to be wondering about something. His nearly black eyes searched hers for what that could be. She had known of the Thousand Cranes tradition, so perhaps they had something, or someone, in common. Judging by her full bags, she had already made the rounds of the market and was not looking to buy from their booth. Why she had been drawn here was the question. Inari's curiosity was as great as his kitsune, though he had a more tame way of approaching things.
