Inari felt a tickle against his neck and he sent a stern thought to the kitsune who had their tails dangling from his collar and the shrunken foxes dove back under his jacket out of sight. He smiled at Iris, drinking to the friendship part, and finding out immediately that champagne was definitely not to his liking in the slightest. Rather than be rude and spit it back into his glass, he swallowed it, making a face as it passed his pallet.
"Oh... sorry. I just... Oh." he turned away slightly and cleared his throat before focusing on her once again. "You sound like you have some experience dealing with grudges. I hope...I'm sorry," he said again with another small cough, pointing to the glass of bubbly he was holding, "I prefer tea. Do you know where I might get some water?" The taste was still there and he was trying desperately to follow the customs of the setting.
