She smiled at the return greeting. He wasn't so bad, not when you knew where the bright spots were. And Eupheme always saw them, was always aware. She just ignored all the cursing. "Oh you're welcome. You looked like you could use a drink." She'd nurse her own for the entire night. She'd never been much for drinking.
She nodded, rolling her eyes at what she knew was a jab. "I don't know if you noticed this, but the effectiveness of me kicking anyone up the ass, as you so elegantly put it, would result in them barely noticing and me getting a bruise. Besides have you ever tried kicking anyone with heels?" She looked around to see if anyone else was there before turning her attention back to him, "besides between you and me? It's hard. They either don't believe you when you say what they need to hear, or they do and keep coming back to fluff their feathers." Eupheme never liked being used for false praise. It made her feel less then what she was.
"The hardest is when nobody believes you, when all you see is just dead eyes and broken souls." She drew in a deep breath and smiled, "but when it's good it's great. Knowing you're helping is just so rewarding." She set her eyes to the ballroom and took a drink from her glass before looking back at her opposite. "So now I'm done going on about my life what have you been doing?"
