Had Iris known he'd wanted to know more about her rather than answer questions about himself, she would have laughed but also apologized. It was habit to ask about others, to find out what she could about anyone while keeping her own life in the background. Whether this had always been her nature or she'd learned it was hard to say, and it didn't really matter, anyway.
