Finding Kitsune
WHO: Inari and anyone at Kick-Ass Comics
WHAT: Inari seeks interesting people reading material
WHEN: 3:00pm
WHERE: NYC, Kick-Ass Comics
ding-a-ling-a-ling
The bell on the comic book store's front door chimes cheerfully as Inari pulls it open and steps inside. The interior was a relief from the cold winds that tunneled through the streets of New York City and he unbuttoned his coat as he took a look around. He had heard from many people in the neighborhood about this comic book store being the best source for hard to find or rare comics. He was interested in seeing where his kitsune had gotten to, and he had a suspicion they had gone back home. The only way back home was, of course, through a tiny opening in a portal of power and here, Inari sensed, there was power. He himself was unable to fit through such a small portal, but his troublesome kitsune could get themselves into some very tight spaces. He had come to fetch them back.
He stepped up to the first case of comics, all laid against one another in a file-like system, alphabetically by category, and began thumbing through them, smiling at some of the names.
Agent X
Alpha Centauri
Andy Capp
Angel
Aphrodite IX
Astro City
Atlas
Authority
It was an impressive collection, and he hadn't even covered the first box shelf yet. He looked up with an impatient sigh and pressed his lips together thoughtfully, scanning the room. The white foxes would be drawn to something that reminded them of home, perhaps even mentioned their existence or his own. Not being familiar at all in the contents of any comic, graphic novel, or manga, Inari was feeling out of his depth. Best to ask for some direction.
He left the A's and walked down the aisle, weaving past a group of teenagers sharing the latest Batman comic and reading intently together. He passed a life sized cardboard cut out of an action figure and paused to study it for a moment. It was not one he recognized, which wasn't saying much. The man depicted had enormous pectoral muscles, ripped shirt and pants, probably from flexing too much, and had the greenest skin Inari had ever seen. He stood there, transfixed by the image with a look of confusion and disbelief on his face.
