Thursday night goes from entertaining to exhilarating when Pan receives that message from his musical nymph, and upon arriving at her hotel room -- her and Apollo's, but the sun god is missing in action -- his heart begins to beat a hundred miles an hour. She's quiet as usual, but so loud at the same time with her emotions. The way she communicates is so unique, and he understands every word, every motion, every sound. He can tell she's wary of his movements, yet almost trusting all the same. As though she expects him to do something she won't like.
When he takes her face in his hands, she goes very still, and all is silent until he steals a kiss from her lips. A sense of familiarity floods through his veins -- and hers, but he can't know -- something so powerful that it has him breaking away within moments, startled. His pipes. Her lips, her broken, selective voice -- it makes sense. It makes so much sense.
Pan strokes her cheek with a gentleness that he only ever reserved for his panpipes, and takes another kiss. The rush is amazing, and it feels like hours -- it probably is, but he stopped keeping track of the time -- before he has to leave, but when he does, his lips still tingle on the way out the door.
He remembers her humming, her physical reaction to his presence and her almost-words, and he grins to himself, brushing a thumb across his mouth. Syrinx is his, no matter what Apollo brands her with, and although this is "farewell" for now, it's definitely not "goodbye".
