Laurie had been slacking.
Oh sure, she had been making friends and bothering people, getting word about the comic book shop out there and even solving all her brother's problems, but there was a side of the pint-sized terror that had been going ignored, and she really needed to fix that. Laurie was a creature of habit, and her biggest habit was indulging in the vigilante justice that some of her most notable creations were famous for. Sure, she wasn't exactly equipped to go guns blazing into the middle of a mob meeting like The Crow, but she could start small and work her way up.
For example, she had been watching a certain warehouse for well over a month now, and after repeated surveillance it had come to her attention that the men inside who had been bringing dogs there night after night were running a dog-fighting ring. That was illegal, but a little too small potatoes to attract the attention of the police. Still, it had attracted Laurie's attention, which could only be worse for them.
See, Laurie liked dogs. They were loyal, smart, and vicious - like her. To think that people would be deliberately putting dogs in danger and then taking them out back and shooting them if they didn't perform well sickened her. So, she did what any self-righteous teenager with a veritable arsenal at her fingertips would do - brought the ruckus.
Giving the one cop who she knew might give a damn, Percival, a quick call, she waited for the perfect opportunity before taking action. Starting small, she carefully sneaked her way into the back where the dogs were being held, picking the locks with an expert hand. It was just a shame that she couldn't hear the men approaching over the dog's barking, and ended up surrounded by four guys holding guns aimed at her head.
Laurie smirked; this would be more fun than she thought. By the time she was done they had no idea what had hit them.
