Over the summer, Tracer had forgotten the Nook. He'd traveled, come home and stayed shiftless for the last month or so. When he felt things changing around him, he remembered it, wondered if it hadn't gone the way of all forgotten places - but he shouldn't have worried. Faith was faithful, believed in him enough to keep him humming, and he was almost sure things kept moving orderly in his world, at times, only because of her sheer force of will.
So he'd been home for days, and he'd learned what had shifted and what was falling into place. It seemed like he spent most of his time trying to reconnect and then forgetting, again, until he had to start over - then again, maybe that was his cycle. With the way things were shifting, he wasn't prone to argue with it. Instead, everything closed for the day - Faith had hired a pretty little boy to cook, and Trace wished he could remember his name - he waited at a brightly decorated table in the restaurant to reconnect with his older brother again.
