There’s no difference from one moment to the next - there is the soft, even breathing of a thing asleep, and then there is one word in the darkness, breaking the silence into pieces even though it is just one word.
“Yes.”
Though there is nothing more for a long time afterward, there is still a difference in the dark trailer. Eyes wide open stare into nothing, and it is almost as though something is waiting. All around this silence is life, people sleeping and people dreaming, some thinking and some doing things they would only do under cover of night.
She doesn’t care what they are doing.
It’s the blood flowing through their veins, the breath in their lungs, the lives all fears eat away at.
When black turns grey and she can see the shapes in the room, can see her own ghostly pale hand in the weak light, she swings her legs out of bed. Her feet land in a pool of dried blood, her own, and there they stop. Perfectly motionless, legs straight and arms hanging dead, black hair draping over her shoulders and framing her cheeks.
Nothing.
Then giggles, barely controlled barely contained giggles, climbing up and down the scale with disturbing ease.
There is no way she can say how long she can hold on for, or how long she can channel the coming energy into her surroundings without it turning to carnage.
There is no way she can know what this body will want as the days slide by.
It is the only fist day, the first few hours, and already she’s wide awake, highly strung and sensitive to everything around her. Every breath a roaring begging to be silenced, every word begging to be made into a sob, every warm body pleading, pleading to be turned into cold dead flesh.
Luckily, that is not all.
There is plenty of fun to be had with those who breathe and talk and live, and until she can no longer control herself, Horror will have her fun.
