Who: Duma (duma ) and Raum (trickyfingers )
When: Mid-September
Where: Raum’s undisclosed home location
What: Sometimes searching for peace and quiet earns you just that.
Warnings: Grumpy demon and too creepy cheerful angel
She was in the kitchen. Again.
Scowling at nothing in particular, Raum refused to be influenced by fresh-from-the-oven baked goods and anything else that seemed to appear wherever the unwanted house guest seemed to wander.
The presence had come with a small dose of surprise, not something or someone a Duke of Hell would have anticipated. Surely not when he found it staring back at him cheerily on his doorstep rather than passing over entirely. Apparently angels didn’t understand that slamming a door in one’s face was not the equivalent to holding it open in a warm welcome.
But somehow, he found himself burdened with an unexpected and unwanted interference in daily routine. At the very least, she was quiet. Not chatty like most of the others, but it didn’t stop the unease that prickled the back of his neck every time she came floating too close -- which was often enough. No matter how he tried to rile her, no matter how much he glared, raged, threatened or stomped off, the angel continued to linger, that serene smile never unwavering. She even had the audacity to casually ruffle his hair in passing, as if he were nothing but a child, or some animal to be acknowledged.
Perhaps he could have left, gone anywhere else rather than dealing with the freeloader. But it was his home, and his sanctuary. He had not the desire to go sulk away in his corner of Hell, nor seek out a Sin to pass the time. He wanted quiet, he wanted to be left alone.
At least he had half of his wish.
