Michael, who had been walking by the boating lake, hadn't even had a chance to see the creature before he went tumbling and windmilling sideways, falling rather ungracefully into the water.
And wasn't it just his luck that when the water swallowed him up, he had his mouth open.
For a moment, the sounds of the park faded and there was bubbles and underwater stirrings in his ears as his world darkened. Then he surfaced, and the sounds returned as he sputtered water and lake vegetation from his mouth and throat.
His clothes were soaked through, as well as everything in his pockets. His hair flung droplets of water everywhere as he turned wildly to see who had done such a thing. He could feel that it was a fellow immortal, but who?
Still spluttering and gasping, he yelled at her, despite the attention it was drawing. "You foul creature!" he bellowed. "How dare you?!"
He made no move to climb out of the water. He simply yelled at her from where he stood.
