This would never be Briseis' sort of scene. The glitz and glamour of movie-stars and premieres held no appeal to her at all, and even if she wasn't still in mourning she would have felt deeply uncomfortable there. But she'd made a promise to Achilles, so there she was.
While all the other women around her seemed to have taken this as an opportunity to wear their most beautiful gowns, Briseis had instead opted for something more simple and comfortable in her black trousers and shirt.
Now she moved on the edges of groups, feeling out of place but glad Achilles was enjoying himself and his triumph.
