Since Daphne stepped out to give her some time alone with Narcissus, Echo had been doing her best to relax in between contractions but making sure to hold on tightly to him whenever a new one would hit. They were starting to come closer together, and while she wasn't sure what that meant she knew that she wouldn't need to start really worrying until her water actually broke. Contrary to every movie and television show she'd seen, the doctor assured her that water doesn't break until you're farther along in labor and the fact that she was in the hospital before it happened was a good thing since otherwise she could risk infection.
She was already starting to feel drained, knowing that she hadn't eaten much since that morning didn't help, but she did her best to preserve her energy since she knew once everything really got going she would most likely end up exhausted before she was done. She laid back against the pillows, smiling softly at her fiancee, when she heard the door opening.
Glancing up to see who it was Echo had expected to see Daphne, or even the doctor, but was incredibly surprised to see Mnemosyne standing there instead. Sitting up slightly, she waved to her friend, gesturing for her to come in and make herself comfortable. Echo wasn't sure if Narcissus had been formally introduced to Mnemosyne, and would have done the honors if she wasn't currently cursed and indisposed. Instead, she could feel her smile widening as she watched her approach.
