"I saw that," Bret said, in reference to Mark's coming out. "Your uhm... your other son came out a couple weeks before that, didn't he, Mark? With that musician. My roommate is... she's into that sort of thing," he said with a nod. It was cool that his family was so open about it. He assumed that Mark was bisexual, at least, because Bret thought he had pretty good gaydar and Mark didn't strike him as being really gay. He wouldn't talk specifics, though.
Bret was a little more confident talking about himself though, as he'd given this ramble a few times - "I was in The Three Musketeers and Ragtime in San Francisco, then Saved in Seattle then moved out here did Hairspray, came back and did Reefer Madness, RENT, Next to Normal and now Wicked... Next I'm shooting for either The Addams Family or Rock of Ages. So yeah, the Theater District is definitely my second home." On the topic of school, though, he actually beamed and shook his head. "Not really. I went college prep school so my last two years of high school were transferable college-equivalent. And then in the last six years I've done four entirely separate semesters at NYU so I do have a Bachelors in English. When things taper off, I plan on going back for my Masters - just because I can't teach high school and that's basically all you can do with a B.A. in English." He definitely got the impression he was being grilled, but the more he could impress them now, the better.
He grinned over at Harvey and nodded, "I was at an event there a couple years ago," he nodded, "I don't think I've seen that particular courtyard though. At least if I have, the name is registering with the image." He smiled at both of them, sort of loving the way they interacted and, when they weren't paying attention for a moment, smiled even wider at Tommy. "It's gotta be a stress planning a wedding of this magnitude but... putting it really up front in the public eye is a great thing. I think more people need to really put themselves out there like that." And look at him, he was sounding like Harvey now...
