After hearing the governor of Arizona's answers from the state's Republican debate the previous night (he hadn't been able to watch, given they'd all been on a plane, flying back from San Francisco), Mark had been unable to resist calling into Countdown with Keith Olbermann. After a few snickers with his old friend about the dangers of 'what about the headless bodies' coming out of any reporter's mouth as a question to a gubernatorial candidate during election season, Mark found himself falling into a relatively serious, in depth conversation on Arizona and Governor Jan Brewer. He found himself slinking down into an extended deck chair and staring up at the hazy New York City sky while he and Keith spoke on air.
Lost in his own world, Mark barely heard Thomas and his friend approach. He blinked as he was drawn back out of the conversation. Keith chuckled when Mark stopped mid sentence and sounded noticeably distracted.
"The kid's home. I have parenting to do," Mark explained wryly, staying on the line just long enough for Keith to rush a goodbye to the viewers and move onto the next segment. By the time Thomas and Bret stood in front of him and he was offered a hand to shake, Mark was ready to give them his (mostly) full attention.
"Sorry, there was a thing..." he explained, slipping the Blackberry into his pocket and brushing his hand gently across Glibt's shoulder. "Hey, Bret, good to meet you. And, Thomas, you know," he smiled at his youngest. "You can just introduce me as your father."
