Thomas shrugged lightly. "I know, I guess I've just been trying to find some sort of middle ground, between enjoying being a kid and trying to grow up quickly so I can figure out what kind of career I want, figure out how I can best contribute to my Party." He hadn't been doing very well with that balancing act, though; throwing a childish fit hadn't exactly made it easy for his family to see him as more than a child. And fretting too much over being mature wasn't exactly helping him retain some sense of being a kid.
Thomas didn't mean to let his eyes light up slightly when Mark said he could come and stay with him and Glibt, but they did, somewhat. "I'd like that, yeah! And that works out perfectly, I think, because Dad and Vater are leaving to go camping this weekend. And I've got plans next Saturday, but other than that, I'll just be volunteering at Harvey's center." And he could cut back on the volunteering just a bit to spend time with Mark and Glibt.
"And I do have hobbies!" Thomas said with a smile as he wracked his mind, trying to figure out if he actually had any hobbies. "I read a lot and I volunteer at the center. I play Halo a lot with Cam and Dance Dance Revolution with Matt. And I made a friend at the center." Don't blush, don't blush; Thomas managed it. "We went to see Rock of Ages, that's a classic rock musical, and he's on Broadway himself, I saw him in Wicked..." Thomas trailed off; none of those were really hobbies, and they weren't interests that matched up with Mark. "But I liked watching baseball with you that one time. We could go to a game? And maybe I could go into work with Papa one day and see what a Director of Communications at an activist organization does all day, that would be fun."
