Thomas noted the gaze directed toward his posture and stubbornly refused to straight up any further. Really, he thought to himself, Mark was lucky that he'd sat up at all. Mark had owned people; Thomas was going to have a hard time finding himself capable of having any respect for his father, at least until he was able to understand what everyone seemed to want him to understand.
The corners of his lips did quirk up slightly, though, at the sight of the tie around his father's neck. Yes, it was rather obvious that his Papa Glibt had left for the time being, at least, to anyone who watched The Politics Fix on a regular basis.
"The Benefits of Marijuana: Physical, Psychological & Spiritual." Thomas rattled off. "It's outdated by three years, of course, but it includes some of the first marijuana-related PTSD research, so I thought I'd reread it." Thomas brushed his hair back from his face, glancing briefly at Mark before looking down at the book again. "And I've been neglecting the spiritual aspect of the legalization fight, so I'm going to try to get my hands on all of the related material. Did you know that Dad has his own churches in Hawaii?" Thomas looked back at Mark, his eyes clear and innocent. "Maybe next time Papa Glibt goes back to Hawaii, I can ask him to take me with him so I can visit the churches." Yes, the mention of Glibt was partly a jab at Mark for upsetting Thomas' almost-step-dad, and also partly a ploy to fish for information; Thomas was worried about the state of his father's relationship with Glibt.
