There was something about being in DC that brought out a cockiness in Mark that wasn't generally there in 'real life'. The attitude certainly came out on his show each night, but he wasn't like that at all. He didn't walk around New York City like he owned the place, not like he did in DC. It was a beautiful summer day despite the storm clouds just edging in on the North horizon. With a bit of a breeze in the air it was a perfectly comfortable day to walk around the Mall green, casually wandering in and out of museums as they pleased. Mark had his arm draped across Glibt's shoulder and a cocky grin on his lips as he pointed out the various sights of his family's city. They'd been in DC together before, but one of them had always been working. They'd never had time to walk and take in the city together.
They'd looked at wedding venues for the morning, the traditional sort. Hotel ball rooms, spacious centers, and botanical gardens, but they hadn't settled on anything. They had awhile in the city, so taking some time to give Glibt a tour of things not on the usual tourist maps wasn't much of a problem and Mark was enjoying it. There was something about being able to walk around a city and say, "this is mine" or "I built that" that was damn pleasing.
"You should have seen the look on Grandfather George's face when he realised that Mom was essentially building him a giant phallic symbol in the middle of DC," Mark was saying with a snicker as they walked towards the National Portrait Gallery.
