Going overboard was kind of Echo's thing, subtlety being a word nobody would ever think to associate with her. Restraint was boring. Besides, when it came down to it, her only real experience with romance and romantic gestures came from what she had received from guys over the years who had been attempting to win her affections. Even Narcissus had sent her flowers, gifts, and jewelery before, though only on special occasions.
Had she known how perplexed he was by her tokens of affections she might not have gone to the lengths she had. Instead, blissfully unaware, she soldiered on in the hopes she'd get her point across.
Deep down, Echo knew that what she was doing was right in her heart, and that was all that mattered. Making her own happiness was important. If she could impart any lesson to her son, it would be to make his own destiny and not to settle. She knew that it could backfire horribly, he could have already found someone new who didn't come with as many fetters as she did, but she would never know if she didn't try.
I just want to start again...
He hadn't appeared yet. She was starting to lose her nerve, but refused to just give up when she had already come so far. For all she knew the reason why she hadn't heard from him since letting him know she had confessed all to Narcissus was because he was freaked out by the idea of taking things further with a pregnant woman, but she'd been afraid to even ask. Now, she wasn't afraid anymore.
With no concept of shame -- which was good considering -- her body twisting to the music, Echo kept her eyes locked firmly on the door to his balcony. Easily she became one with the rhythm. Lithe body weaving the words she wished she could speak herself -- this would suffice. Taking a deep breath, she saw him finally step outside and into view, his presence comforting her in ways she hadn't known just seeing someone could.
She smiled. Softly, at first, but very clearly all for Pan. She wanted Pan to see the lengths she would go to in order to prove she cared.
With no hesitation or nervousness, Echo let down her guard and showed him her everything.
