WHO: Fenrir and Wendigo WHAT: Fenrir has just had a reunion with his father, an encounter with the police and the fairer sex, and is about to get mistaken for food. Productive week. WHERE: Central Park. Because it's the only place in the whole freakin' city with trees. WHEN: Late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning. It's dark and late, okay. WARNINGS: Nnnnnnnnope.
Wendigo waited. It had been two days since she'd last eaten her favorite meat, and the nights had been even more unbearably hot than usual. The effort it took to simply keep herself alive was beginning to tax on her. During the day she slept soundly, deep beneath the earth in a den she'd clawed out for herself and coated comfortably with ice. Sleeping there in her own, personal icebox, she could almost forget the awful, blazing temperatures that awaited her when she awoke.
Sometimes, she could feel her heart beginning to melt.
On those nights, she would become frantic. If there wasn't enough moisture in the air, if she couldn't keep her ice-heart frozen, she would certainly die, collapse into a messy pile of bones and body parts from countless different creatures. On those nights, she was desperate, panicked. On those nights, her intelligence and rationality went out the window, and conversation was the last thing on her fevered mind. On those nights, she would attack just about anything.
This was one of those nights.
Which was why, when she saw what was apparently any other one of the countless, denless meat-people that she'd grown accustomed to feeding on, she did not particularly notice a strange smell coming from him, a smell that would have told her this was not a thing for eating. Distressed and threatened as she was, Wendigo needed human meat to keep herself going, and that was what she fully intended to have.
She waited just long enough for him to step out of the light cast by the tiny, caged fires that sat on high poles before lunging out of the trees, screaming her paralyzing cry. A sharp blast of icy breath enveloped the unfortunate meat-person as her jaws came rushing towards him.
