Absinthe had been very happy the last few days. Usually this spelled trouble. Alicia had long learned to duck her head, keep low, and make sure nothing spontaneously caught on fire. Many thought her job was interesting. Alicia thaught 'many' weren't always all there.
She'd gotten some half message of 'I'm expecting a friend', so Alicia had assumed to see another God. Most of the time it got Absinthe this happy. Not a mortal like her.
She'd been surfing the web at first. The shop wasn't too busy (it was the cafe that was), and Absinthe played host perfectly, so when the door had rung she'd looked up and smiled at the man. The minute he spoke she knew who it was who had made her employer and Goddess so pleased.
She rose and flipped her laptop down, "Hi. I'm Alicia. I'll let you in. " She'd started with just telling people to go into the bar, but the door had been a fire-exit and they went weird and assumed she was playing tricks. Now she just led them inside.
"It's this way, next time just come through." She moved out behind the counter and to the door with an absinthe poster from back in the day. She pushed it open, and it was like stepping into 1800 France. Sweet smelling smoke filled the area, and the music from back then gave the atmosphere exactly what Absinthe wanted.
Alicia glanced back and smiled. "Welcome to La Fee Verte. Come on, I wondered why she made me reserve a table." She led the man to a table with long couches and started setting up the fountain. "I'll get her, she'll be down in about five. Couple of rules though. Smoking is allowed, but no burning the sugar. As Abby's guest she'll give you free drinks, but if you want to swing by normally every bottle is priced differently. The rarer, the more expensive. Sugar is never billed into your bill. If you drink and drive, that's not my issue."
She smiled, Alicia was trained well, and finished setting everything up. "I'm out front if you need anything. Enjoy. Remember absinthe is 70 proof alcohol, you have no idea how often people forget." With that the young woman left him be. She did have to tell Absinthe her guest was here.
