WHO: Calliope & Mnemosyne (and Orpheus later) WHEN: The morning of August 1st WHERE: Calliope's place WHAT: A Muse preparing for surgery. WARNINGS:
Calliope kept wringing her hands despite the fact that she told herself it was unneeded and that plenty of human beings went through things like this every day. But Calliope was not a human being, and although she was weak as immortals went, she had never even had occasion to visit a doctor's office before this whole trauma with Ruin.
But now... Oh, immortal father, bless this foolish daughter of yours with strength! Today they were going to cut into the flesh of her mouth once more, but to heal and not hinder as it had been before. She had to keep reminding herself that at the end of this she would have teeth again, that all the pain would mean something.
When the knock came at the door, Calliope stood and went to it, her hair tied back and her face bare of any make-up. "Mother," she breathed with a relieved tight-lipped smile once she'd opened the door. There was perhaps a part of her that still expected she would have to do this alone.
