There was little else for him to do but bring up a hand to cup her jawline, his thumb lingering at her cheekbone. To forget about the reason why she couldn't stay. To allow his eyes to slip closed and kiss her back like he needed it to breathe, to function. Why hadn't they done this before? Why three months down the road? Stupid as he often was, he hadn't exactly been subtle in the last month. Feelings were hard to erase once you developed them. She had to know that.
Pan was only marginally aware of how wrong this was. No logical part of him gave a damn about how Narcissus would feel if he ever found out about any of this, because he was selfish, and he didn't care about the other man's feelings. But if this somehow ended up hurting Echo, hurting Bastian's chance at having a proper father, would there be any chance of forgiving himself? He'd done it before. Ruined lives. Taken -- or tried to take -- what didn't belong to him.
So how could this be wrong when it felt so right?
A grand part of him simply couldn't care beyond the sexual impulse. Echo's lips were as lovely as he'd imagined they'd feel, but he hadn't expected them to be so electrifying. She was beautiful, she obviously had feelings for him. It was right. It had to be, even though the small, nagging voice in the back of his head reminded him that people got what they deserved.
Karma was always, always a bitch.
