Pan, on the other hand, was anything but nervous. The downside of being a womanizer was the inability to feel much of anything past a horny high, and instead of feeling guilty about the things he'd said to Echo earlier that day, he felt -- well, nothing. Narcissus, regardless of the possibility of him being a nice guy and all -- in fact, he could've been the nicest guy in the world, if not for already knowing he was a douchebag -- was nothing but an obstacle in his mission to steal his girlfriend away.
But if there was any bigger obstacle, it had to be the baby kicking around inside of Echo's stomach.
He hadn't lied about kids not being a deal breaker earlier. But maybe he hadn't told the entire true. (Angelina Jolie wasn't his type, anyway, even though it'd been a joke at the time. He didn't like strong, confident women littered with tattoos and a platoon of children.) Kids always complicated matters, no matter how uncomplicated the relationships were. While not despising children, Pan certainly didn't care much for them. Commitment was harder with snotty brats around. As if it wasn't hard enough to begin with.
Following her knock on the door, he kicked aside a stray shirt, not caring much about where it ended up. He was definitely not the tidy sort, but at least the apartment looked moderately acceptable (especially if you squinted). The lock was undone and the door was swung open, revealing him in a simple black tee and faded jeans. Pan didn't consider this visit to be anything monumental, and even if it had been, he wouldn't have had enough knowledge of social graces to even think of dressing up for it. Hell, even lighting a candle. But since she'd brought Chinese, it appeared candles were out of the question.
"Well, don't you look lovely," he crooned, grinning a little before leaning forward to press a soft kiss to her cheek. "As always."
