Declare Independance
WHO: Lamia and Psychology
WHEN: Sometime after three pm
WHERE: St. Barnabas Hospital in central Bronx
WHAT: The doctor visits the patient after a mental break.
WARNINGS: This is Lamia. What do you think?
We'd like to ask that you leave any sharp objects with the reception desk during your visit, the nurse explained to John, her hand hovering by his elbow but not touching. You can collect them on your way out. Sharp things meant potential weapons for the crazy kooks, the disturbed, the deranged in the second floor psychiatric ward. Nothing was safe, and everything was dangerous. There was a distinct aroma of disinfectant wafting through the air on the way to Lamia's private room, one of the few available. Somehow, it seemed the quality of the halls began to degrade the further one went. At the room door, John would be greeted by a scraggly man who turned out to be none other than the doctor presiding over the reason they were all meeting across the hall from the utility closet: Lamia.
Amelia.
Diagnosis was revealed to be a psychotic break. Trigger unknown, but seemingly self-inflicted lacerations up and down both arms, from wrist to bicep, suggested depression. Earlier there had been a complication and several orderlies were ushered into the room to restrain her the very second her nurse had attempted to deliver her food and drink. She was sedated, but not heavily so. Didn't react to questions. Didn't make eye contact.
Broken.
The blinds lining her room window were drawn, and the doctor gave John a grim smile.
