Mnemosyne | Nora Moss (recalled) wrote in forgotten_gods, |
Much like Gaia had been, her daughter was feeling as guilty as one realistically could when late to a baby shower. That certainly hadn't been part of the plan, but traffic had held her up, and time was most unfortunately not on Mnemosyne's side that day. Nevertheless, she arrived at the nymph's door in one breathless piece, exhaling in relief when she noticed the familiar faces. Smoothing her dress of imaginary wrinkles out of embarrassment, the goddess of memory beelined over to Echo and the one who had drawn her attention first: her mother.
"Hello, sweetheart," she half-apologized, taking the girl's hand in hers as she leaned over to kiss her closest cheek. Had Echo not been pregnant, it would have been easier to wrap her up in a hug, but knowing it was near impossible to bear hug someone in that state, she opted for squeezing her hand and tracing the word "sorry" into her palm.
When Mnemosyne pulled back, looking awfully young with her giftbag simply hanging at her elbow like a purse, her eyes immediately began to water in the presence of her mother, much to her immediate dismay. She'd promised herself several times that morning she wouldn't be emotional, and that she would not cry, but now not even two feet from Gaia, those mantras were proving useless.
