Manhattan, no matter where you were, was always packed. Morning, afternoon, to evening, there was always a crowd. It certainly lived up to its name of "the city that never sleeps", as Morgause had never seen its streets any less packed than that night, which was always livelier than daytime. She imagined that even in the early hours of the morning, there was still a crowd milling about near or in the downtown core, particularly in Times Square.
Upon finally reaching the sliding doors of her son's hotel, she breathed a relieved sigh at the air conditioning flooding past her. Her heels clicked with every step along the glossy linoleum, and relocating her shoulder bag to the opposite side, she allowed her gaze to flicker over to the clock on the far wall. Not late, but not early earlier. Acceptable. The receptionist intercepted her stare and quickly glanced back at the computer monitor, earning a smug little smirk.
Within minutes, Morgause was breezing through the open doors leading to the hotel's bar and dining area, already seeking out Mordred, who she doubted had changed too much since they'd last been together.
