Who: Bret Murray and OPEN! What: The Addams Family Musical album signing. When: Thursday, July 15th; afternoon. Where: Lincoln Square (Broadway & 66th) Barnes & Nobel Warning: Musical geekery?
Bret had gone into the center early that morning to have all his work done before one early afternoon meeting just so he could hop in a cab and rush the few blocks across town, finding himself at the end of a very long line. But he'd thought ahead! A quick text to his roommate, who had been there since the store's door opened that morning, and he was squeezing through people, grinning ear-to-ear, finding her just before the last ninety-degree curve in the line. She dropped a CD in his hands and grinned at him.
"You owe me big time, sweetcheeks."
He plunked a kiss on her cheek and grinned back, his best winning-smile, "I'll take out all the trash for a week?"
"Two weeks."
"Deal!" Bret said as he slung an arm around her waist and rest his chin on her shoulder, barely able to contain his excitement. Addams Family was one of those things that he remembered clear back from his childhood - the old television series, the movies... He knew he was gay because of Gomez Addams, actually. That was his mom (his biological mom's) doing. His mother was a news-aholic.
"So how long have you been waiting here?" he asked, looking around.
"They let us line up at 2," she answered. "And said if they didn't get to everyone by 4:30, they'd finish signing after the performance."
"Cool," he nodded, trying not to bounce around like an excited schoolboy. Instead he turned around and smiled big at the person behind them. "Have you seen the show yet?"
