"Oh." Dylan said under his breath. He had been in love twice, maybe three times if he was being optimistic, but now he finally realized what Salvia's strange behavior meant. She liked him, but not in the dark, dirty way that he had been liked before. They were friends, close friends. But she had liked him, so she .. changed her gender. That was a decision that Dylan was having a difficult time understanding. He took the bag from Salvia in silence and listened to her next words as he pulled out a leaf and put it between his teeth to chew.
"Because, um-" Dylan began slowly. What should he tell? How much and how little? Would he get in trouble? Then again, it had been so long since he had dealt with Salvia's 'hermanos', and from far away, they weren't quite so terrifying. Even though the thought of Hazel made his chest hurt, those people, those gods didn't seize him with the same trembling fear as before. "In this country a lot of your brothers and sisters aren't allowed." He said finally. "So they're illegal. And not everybody wants to risk growing and cultivating, so they buy it from other people, like your hermano." He could feel a pleasant tingle in his mouth from chewing the leaf. "I don't know if it's right or wrong, I just know that's how it is. You're not illegal, though. It's just that a lot of people in this city don't know you."
