Triton leaned into her touch and let her soothe away the lines there, though inside he was still puzzling out her words. It took him a moment longer than it should have, because it seemed impossible that it should be true, and all the more impossible because it was something that he wanted to believe all too badly.
There was really no way he could mistake what Amaterasu said, however, and there was no question of believing her.
After he got it clear in his mind, there were still a few seconds of silence. Instead of confusion, these were filled with happiness a little too great for articulation, and it was really up to the light in his eyes and his momentary pause in breathing to convey what he felt.
When Triton did find his voice again, he hardly knew what he was saying. Something about how Triteia would react, about how it was too perfect to be and how lucky he was and how wonderful and how he loved her and it all came out in a rushed jumble only Amaterasu stood a chance of understanding.
In just one more moment he was kissing her, the only thing he could do to quiet the riot currently inside him.
