Somehow they lost sight of the girls they'd invited to come in the huge crowd - pity, really, but they could find them later... maybe - and then Kane had wandered off to buy something to eat or to pee or both or something else entirely, and that was when Stan caught Tyki's attention. Or rather the swiftly moving cards in the young mortal's hands did.
He knew this game, had earned some money with it a long time ago and lost money to it, also a long time ago. The bum had needed money and the young Lord had so much he didn't know what to do with it other than waste it. The incubus watched the mortal draw in other mortals, watched him pull the money out of their pockets, and tried not to laugh at their disappointed faces when they lost.
"Noah! There you are!" a female voice shouted and Tyki sighed inwardly but put on his nicest smile for the young woman. Dinner was back. "You and your friend were suddenly gone and then I lost my friend, too! What are you doing?"
"Just watching a game. Looks like fun." "Are you playing?" "Not yet. Why don't you give it a try?"
"You think I should?" The woman eyed the cards and Stan, watched the man who was playing win two times in a row and that seemed to tickle her sense for 'adventure' (some call it greed).
"Alright. I'll play!" Stepping up to the table, she giggled nervously. "How is it played?"
