Phobos' head jerked up when Ares said he was happy to see him and, although the lump grew bigger, it didn't stop his mouth from curving into a small, albeit shaky, smile. The fall of Olympus and the scattering of their pantheon had robbed the boy of what he believed was his purpose so to hear that his father would still be there even though they were mostly useless now meant a lot to him.
As did knowing that he had could come to Ares when he in trouble. Not that the boy would. He tried to keep his crap to himself and not burden his father with it which didn't always work, of course, but unlike the rest of their family, he did his best to keep trouble away from Ares' doorstep.
"...make up for? What are you talking about?" Eyes gone soft with gratitude, relief and a hint of confusion looked straight at Ares. "There's nothing you have to make up for, dad."
