"I didn't know that," Jamie replied softly. He'd always assumed Ares' selective memory was a result of being around for so long, the fading worship, the blows to the head the Greek seemed to receive on a relatively regular basis, and the excessive drinking.
The thought of constantly losing memories and having to chase after them was disturbing.
"I can do that if that's what you want." A part of National Security was a data storage facility with the capacity to hold more information than anyone would ever need or want. Information about his past incarnations existed there as cold hard facts with everything that made them 'memories' stripped away.
The same would happen to the memories of Jamie Sheppard should he cease to exist but until then he wouldn't mind playing memory keeper for someone else. Wouldn't mind because it would actually be nice to keep something that mattered to someone that wasn't him.
"And things weren't bad. A little weird; at times, crazy and confusing but never what I'd consider bad." Jamie reached out to brush a fingertip over the crease on Ares' forehead and smiled.
