The awe in his eyes sent another surge of power through her, her lips splitting into a full blown grin, blue eyes sparkling. She had never before been able to share these sorts of things with anyone at all. There was no other time of year that she was in this high of spirits, her power at this much of a high. Adonis was right about goddesses and power, but it was true for any immortal. You were never so beautiful as when you were the object of worship. Never so happy or so perfect. His compliment just added to the effect of the emotion behind his eyes, words serving to confirm what she already knew that she saw there.
But there was something else behind his words and it struck something within her. She wanted to pull him to her, to tell him to express what was behind those words, to give him the word to stop holding back and just do, but she couldn't, and she knew that she couldn't, and she contented herself with things that could be spoken and seen. There would be a time, a place, and this was not it. Grinning still, she brushed the hair from his face and murmured a soft "Thank you". Fearing her own intoxication (for power was ever so much more potent than alcohol) she sat back, her head lifted from his shoulder and nodded.
"It will be a tremendous source of power, and when I announce it, all of these people will see it as simply furthering their goals, perpetuating their environment. In many ways, it is, but only we will know that it is more. And years from now, when the pendulum swings away and human beings forget their first mother, the power of it will linger, and I will continue to thrive. And that is exactly what I need."
