Echo was going into this meeting hoping to accomplish quite a bit today: to find peace of mind and get Narcissus to understand she was done being kicked around. She had been doing some research, and she knew that she had to be strong both for herself and for Bastian if she was ever going to get some respect. Between the ride to the city with Pan and the time that she had spent with Daphne, Echo had convinced herself that she could stick to her guns and come out of this mostly unscathed.
Admittedly, for all her tough talk towards Narcissus she still loved him and wanted something to work out. Knowing what she knew now about Pan had given her the confidence to realize she could survive despite Narcissus' rejection, but she had yet to find anything that could equal how she felt when she was with him and things were going well. The fact that she was carrying his child notwithstanding, Echo had come to accept that without Narcissus she just didn't feel the same. The fact that there was a child involved had her convinced that they would always be involved with each other no matter what, though she knew it probably would never be to the degree she truly wanted. All Echo wanted, more than anything in the world, was to be with someone she could love and who loved both her and the baby in return. Narcissus didn't want to be that person, although Himeros did, and she just had to accept it.
Nervous, Echo stood outside the door to the apartment she had once called home. She could hear him inside, but she was trying to get herself in order before knocking on the door. She checked her hair and light makeup in her compact, taking a moment to adjust the bodice of the simple red slip-dress she had chosen for the meeting. Taking a deep breath, her knuckles had barely hit the door when it opened to reveal Narcissus. Blinking at his greeting, she smiled slightly. "Hello." she repeated, glancing past him as she moved inside.
