Narcissus hoped to accomplish one thing today: to keep Himeros away from his son. He had other intentions as well, including getting Echo to stay and convincing her that he would get full custody of Bastian if they weren't raising him together. Either way, he would be sure that who he saw as his main competition for the attention of Echo and his son was out of the picture.
The truth was, he did want Echo around. As much as he loved himself, being alone took its toll sometimes. Besides, what was a narcissist without someone around to give him the attention he thought he deserved. Over the years, as his name was used in psychology, a simple love of his reflection had changed into full blown Narcissistic Personality Disorder, including the complete sense of inadequacy that, in a round about way, caused those feelings of superiority. It wasn't that he wanted Echo, no, he needed her. And as much trouble as he gave her, and as guilty as he tried to make her, and as much as he degraded her, he would always accept her back. The cursed part of him knew that she was the only one that would ever put up with him this long. The non-cursed Narcissus that came out every so often was falling for her (which, subsequently, was the reason the curse was breaking so often and tended to happen in situations that involved her).
Presently, Narcissus set the table for the breakfast he had told her he would have. He had made sure that he had apples and peanut butter in the house, and even went so far as to make something of it. He was drinking a cup of coffee and eating one of the english muffins himself when he heard Echo at the door. He made his way to the front room, checking himself in the mirror on the way, and open the door. "Hello." he said, surprisingly warmly.
