The girl was pretty enough and she studied her in contemplation. Arachne did not seek anyone to take home. She valued her solitude, live long enough and anyone would, but she felt a tingle of guilt of having the girl's youth wasted. She could remember her poor father's plea of 'please Arachne, marry and do me proud' and always felt guilty that she hadn't done either. Perhaps she could make amends this way.
The last comment made her smile, "I know. It makes you very valuable to me. But no, this is not part of the job. My kin's illness has no effect on you. Whoever he was, is an idiot. Find someone. Trust me girl, was I your age again I'd give all this up to have someone at my side. Listen to an old woman's advice. go. Have fun, be young. Or you'll find yourself old and bitter."
