Who: Morphine, Heroin, Marijuana and Salvia Where: Morphine's home in Brooklyn When: Thursday, late afternoon-evening Warnings: Adorable Salvia in a garden? TBA.
Morphine was seated at the small round table in her kitchen, leafing through an article in a science journal about advances in the synthesis of morphine from the opium poppy, the synthetic creation of morphine by other means other than the poppy as well; the synthetic production of her drug meant much, but she was not in the state or the mood to contemplate it.
Dinner was simmering away in a big soup pot and baking away in the oven, with corn bread and homemade beer bread as well. She'd made a hearty stew, for despite that winter was slowly coming to an end, it was still chilly out. In the other, smaller oven she had, she had pie and cookies baking. A bowl of fruit salad sat atop the counter and a platter of mozzarella caprese salad sat next to it. After finishing the article, she rose fluidly and moved to pick up the fruit salad and the caprese salad, carrying them down the hall and through the double doors leading out into the sun room that overlooked her garden. The table there had been set for four. She gazed out onto the garden for a moment after setting the salads down - shoots of flowers and plants were coming up, but many had been lost to the freeze and she had not had the time this year thus far to tend to it properly.
She walked back into the house and into the kitchen, turning down the soup to a simmer and turning down the ovens to 'warm.' She was looking forward to seeing Heroin more than usual, for the past couple weeks had been so very intriguing for her, and the development of their plan for Cocaine was slowly being kicked into gear. Or not so slowly. She had met with Ecstasy the previous Friday, and now she had Marijuana joining her twin to dinner and gardening. She smiled inwardly, inhaling the sweet smells of corn bread and beer-bread baking.
She moved from the kitchen, walked through the dining room and into one the parlors to turn some light music on, most likely something orchestral. While her large home had very few technological advancements - no television, no caller ID on her telephone and no up-to-date music player - there was a somewhat decent sound system, despite the archaic record player. Some years earlier, Heroin had insisted on installing surround-sound that worked with said old record player, and a sound system that went with it - that was throughout the house: the kitchen, the sun room and both parlors in particular. He had realized his sister, despite her brilliance in medicine and the advancements within her field, knew little to nothing about installing such things but thought she needed something to make her home more... homey.
Tilting her head, she could sense something getting closer. Heroin. She looked forward to seeing Salvia, for she had never quite witnessed a drug so innocent as she seemed to be. She walked back into the kitchen, pulled out the breads and placed them on top of the stove, draping a light towel over them. The soup was done, and she turned off the burner. Placing the corn bread and slicing the beer bread, all into a little basket, she prepared the soup into a large serving bowl, grabbed four bowls and walked back out into the sun room, set everything where it needed to be, and eased herself into a seat. She eased back into a chair in the sun room and stared through the expansive screened windows of the sun room out into the garden, where she'd already begun pulling out weeds and potting, planting and seeding new plants throughout. Morphine had little plans for the evening other than enjoying Heroin's company while learning more about Salvia, and, of course, Marijuana. Having two plant-derived gods in her garden would certainly make it shine. She'd let things develop as they would. And so for now, she only waited.
