Even though Rhea knew just how persuasive Cronus could be, having Nyx join them had still come as a bit of a surprise. Unexpected but pleasant nonetheless.
After their empire fell, the former queen had retreated into the mountains and rarely sought out the company of others. Night, however, could not be avoided; not even by gods and goddesses. Eventually, she had come to appreciate the quiet hours of the night almost as much as she had cursed them in her youth. Night and darkness weren't frightening when you knew they would end.
"I'll see you there." Smiling, she brushed past her hunting companion and headed down the road that had been pointed out to her, mindful to remain in the shadows. Her coat came off first. The jacket she wore underneath was dropped just as carelessly. Suddenly, she turned into an alley that harboured even deeper shadows.
A large black cat of prey emerged from it. It lifted its nose into the air and purred deeply in its throat when it caught the scent of its prey. Tail swaying from one side to the other it retreated into the dark and waited for the boy to cross its path.
