Home? This island and this house - neither had been much of a home. More like an oversized cage, a prison. It had made her grandmother sick; it had held the Sun Goddess captive and almost driven the nymph up the walls. No, home wasn't the word Triteia would have used to describe it.
But now Triton had returned and his presence alone chased away some of the desolation and despair. Home? Yes... maybe a little bit.
"You're here now. That's all that matters. I've missed you. Everyone has." Her free hand was splayed out against his back, holding him close, and she would have happily stayed like this for much, much longer but Amaterasu would want to see him too. She counted slowly to ten before she reluctantly pulled back and raised her head, smiling at Triton.
"Let's go inside. Ama will be so happy to see you." Taking his hand, Triteia pulled him with her towards the front door. Before she pushed it open, she turned her head. "Grandpapa?"
