Who: The Moirae, OPEN Where: Manhattan, the girls' thrift store When: 11:21 am Rating: None as yet
It had been a slow morning, and the redhead who called herself Lena Moira had decided to take the opportunity provided by the lack of business to do some proper sweeping and dusting. Clotho may roll her eyes, but Lachesis had always found something rather relaxing about a good spring (or, in this case, winter) clean. Yes, it was mindless busy work, but sometimes that was just what was needed to clear one's mind. And there was something about rolling up her sleeves and just getting stuck into the job of setting everything in order that she found quite satisfying.
Lachesis was of the belief that you could tell a lot about a person based on the tidiness of his or her living space. Take Clotho, for instance. Clotho was neat, but only in a very superficial way. She was the kind of person who would sweep dust under the rug and push excess mess under the bed; disorganised beneath the appearance of order. Atropos was the exact opposite. Her room was eternally untidy; things were left lying out for no apparent reason, and when a frustrated Lachesis asked why she didn't just put them away Atropos would reply innocently that she might need them later. And yet for all the appearance of chaos, Atropos must have some sort of system to it, for she never lost track of anything and knew instantly if anything had been removed.
The eldest sister was absent from the shop at the moment, having also decided to make the most of the slow morning by retiring to the back room for what she had (rather cheekily, Lachesis thought) termed a siesta. This left Clotho, the youngest, to watch the register, although at the moment her attention was focussed elsewhere. Sitting behind the counter, she was leafing idly through a gossip magazine of the type that would make Lachesis roll her eyes.
Presently, however, her eyes strayed from the page toward the front of the shop. A moment later, the bell by the door jingled, announcing the arrival of a customer.
